Web Browsers
This web site is best viewed with Internet Explorer 6.x or later or Firefox 2.x or later. Current versions of other browsers should also perform acceptably. If you are experiencing difficulties with this web site, you may be using an outdated browser. If your browser is outdated, it may not present JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets, colours, text formatting and other features properly. Should this be the case, you are advised to consider updating to a more recent version.
Why should I update my browser?
Browsers are increasingly being developed with conformity to standards in mind. The standards are those created by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C - external link), and assist in the release of new technologies which can be used by all standards compliant products. Older browsers (e.g. Netscape 4.x) are not compliant, thus limiting the user experience of some newer web sites. Updating is therefore recommended (generally via free download from the relevant web site).
Privacy implications?
Included in the W3C standards are PET (Privacy Enhancing Technology) components, whereby users are able to control the flow of personal information at the browser, which is equipped with features such as cookie filtering. This is recommended for all users concerned about the privacy implications of their on-line experience. Note that the Privacy Victoria web site does not use cookies.
